seagrassonline.org is being developed as a collaborative, resource-sharing environment.
Founding partners are the World Seagrass Association , James Cook University and the Integration and Application Network at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science.

- World Seagrass Association—the World Seagrass Association is a global network of scientists and coastal managers committed to research, protection and management of the world's seagrasses
- ISBW8—The eighth International Seagrass Biology Workshop, currently being held at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre on Vancouver Island, Canada.
- Mediterranean Seagrass Association—originally formed to organise ISBW4 (Corsica, 2000) now approaches seagrass issues across the Mediterranean Region and to create a communication network across Mediterranean countries.
- Global Initiative to Barcode Seagrasses—an international group collaborating to build a molecular barcode database of all seagrass species and a capability to identify species from leaf tissue samples.
- Seagrass Regions—the first in number of sites intended address the recognised lack of charisma that seagrass attracts. The large international group intends to build a resource summarising knowledge of regional seagrasses (coming soon).
